About me:
I am the founder of Wild Nature Quest, formerly known as Off to Bhutan, and I have been a trailblazer in the realm of birding excursions and exploration of Bhutan's diverse ecosystems for over 25 years. Being a passionate birdwatcher, I have spent countless weeks traversing Bhutan, meticulously identifying prime locations to observe the most sought-after bird species, including the elusive Wren Babblers, Pheasants, Trogons, and other remarkable avian inhabitants of Bhutan. Through my expeditions, I have significantly contributed to expanding the knowledge base of various species that were previously poorly documented. I have even had the fortune of recording three new species for Bhutan.
Notably, I have been among the pioneering local birding guides, as I was one of the first few to independently lead international birding tours in Bhutan. Additionally, I have collaborated with Tom Stephenson, a fellow birder and co-author of The Warbler Guide, in conducting extensive recordings of Bhutan's bird songs. Our joint efforts have resulted in a vast library of local bird songs, which I have generously shared with Cornell University's Macaulay Library and the public platform, Xeno-canto.
With my extensive experience in guiding birding groups, I have facilitated countless birders in witnessing even the rarest avian species. Combining my profound knowledge of the local culture, I offer clients a unique and immersive cultural experience throughout their tours. Furthermore, I am renowned for my dedication to training and mentoring aspiring young guides who aspire to pursue careers in birding and nature guiding. Alongside birding tours, I possess the expertise to organize nature tours and cultural tours that provide a comprehensive and authentic Bhutanese experience.
